FEDERICO LAMAS (2022)
A struggle between good and evil – The artist Federico Lamas was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but travels around the world with his art and exhibitions. He tells us that his art is universal and could be relatable to anyone, no matter what nationality one has. Lamas has an educational background in image and sound design from Argentina. He does not call himself a street artist, illustrator, or another title, as he involved in anything form video art, illustrations, street art, etc.
The contrast between good and evil is a repetitive theme in his art. He has cultivated this theme in an art project he started working with, in 2009 – Hellish Vision. The art piece he has made in Flekkefjord is a part of his Hellish Vision project.
HELLISH VISION
Hellish Vision was created in 2022. This interactive piece of street art is found in Hidragaten 6. It belongs to the project that has the same name. Lamas has painted an old, wooden Norwegian ship which has the inscription 2020 - 2022. This is a symbol of two years of quarantines, shutdowns, and restrictions.
The project Hellish Vision started in 2009 and has resulted in Frederico’s art being spread around the world. Here illustrations and animations have hidden messages. However, through a red lens you can see “the othe side” The artist likes to focus on moral and ethical dilemmas in his art, as well as showing life’s contrasts.
– I like to use humour and innocent drawings, but a hidden message is lurking in the background. The lens I am using gives you the possibility to get a perspective form «both worlds», says the artist.
Lamas has had exhibitions in Hannover (Up and Coming), São Paulo (Videobrasil) , México DF (Pasagüero og Vértigo Galería), Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Kiosko Gallery) and Québec (La Bande video gallery).
