FRODE SKAREN / UGLYLOGO (2015)

Childish adventures - Frode Skaren / Uglylogo is a graduate of Oslo Academy of the Arts. He was born and still lives in Kvinesdal. MELKEBAREN (THE MILK BAR)

The work The Milk Bar (Melkebaren) which was created in 2015 is located in Fjellgaten, Flekkefjord. It shows a huge ice cream with a lot of luscious toppings. The artist is inspired by Elsa Beskow's fairytales where humans dive into a fictional world and become miniatures, and daydreams can come true. “I am very fond of drawing ice cream, so I thought that I could make a work of art where my style - as shown in Uglylogo - meets Elsa Beskow, with ice cream as a basis“, says Frode Skaren.

“In this world, people on the street become miniatures and the fruit and sweets are normal. It's as if we have entered Beskow's world, but with a good dose of Uglylogo attitude," the artist adds.

“In addition, it was extremely fitting and incredibly coincidental that this building, where the street art is located, was previously an ice cream parlor and the city's dairy. So maybe my work was meant to be painted on this very wall? ” Skaren concludes.
