COURAGE (2023)

Towering high, on a tower in the middle of Brogaten, the work "Courage" gazes upon Flekkefjord's city centre. The work serves as a window to a parallel reality, a portal to beauty and realism. Through her use of oil paint, Arrou-tea has masterfully captured every minute nuance and detail, bringing scenes to life as if they were taken directly from reality. The human body, floating in the clear water, becomes a powerful symbol of the fragility of beauty and the harmony in nature. A unique signature in the artist's works is her incredible ability to capture light. A dazzling interplay of shadows and glow that brings her creations to life.

The artist is concerned with women's struggle in a turbulent world: "The theme I was given was 'courage.' It's something I'm concerned with in my art. I speak about courage from a female perspective. One must be brave as a woman in a difficult society. It's not easy being a woman, an artist; one must fight," says Amanda Arrou-tea.

Curators: Smaabyen Flekkefjord and Flekkefjord Museum.
