CHILDREN & TEENAGERS
Children and teenagers have been a part of Streetart Flekkefjord since its beginning in 2015. Either as a source of inspiration, or as active participants and artists. In 2017, the children contributed with chalk art in the streets. Since then, the 5th grade at Sunde Elementary School has contributed with art to the museum fence (Dr. Kraftsgate 15) with the themes of hope, identity and Post Corona etc. (the latter was 5th grade from 2020 which became 6th grade in 2021). In 2018, the artist Daniel Yalew Steinset received help from a local kindergarten that sent him drawings of "rock trolls" that he could incorporate into his work Fjellparken. The street art in Flekkefjord is for children of all ages!
THE TRANSIENTS - 2017
Transience in miniature - Works from 2017 in Sirdalgaten, Bakkegaten, Fjellgaten and Nesgaten where 10 students from the class Design and Redesign, made mini street art in the streets. Some are still visible, while others were perishable, as they were made of stencils. Several of the works were inspired by Elsa Beskow's stories about "Aunt Green, Aunt Brun and Aunt Violet". The house where the author Elsa Beskow's grandfather lived and was born (Fjellgaten 9), is still found in Flekkefjord. It is said that the historical part of the city was in the author's thoughts when she wrote about "Aunt Green, Aunt Brun and Aunt Violet". Her books usually starts like this: "Once upon a time in a small town, in a small street, with a small yellow house". As it perfectly describes Fjellgaten.
THE ANGEL - 2018
A colorful angel - The colorful and optimistic "Angel" that can be found at the Milk Bar, was made by Malin Lenz Litlehei, 10th grade at Flekkefjord junior high school, Design and redesign. The angel reflects this year's theme (2018), hope, by spreading its colorful wings of freedom across the wall of the Milk Bar. The inclusive rainbow colors can also be found here. Take a selfie in front of the wings and become one of Flekkefjords many angels.
FLEKKEFJORD – 2019
Selfie spot on the playground - This vibrant work can be found in Kirkegaten, on the playground, next to the church. It is based on Helene Torkildsen's design and made by students from Flekkefjord Culture School, section for visual communication, in collaboration with the teacher Joel Toledo. The colorful work represents Flekkefjord, seen from the river alongside the boathouses. The river and the city bridge are in the center. The work shows the students' pride in their city. Joel Toledo led the process and wanted to invigorate the playground with a colorful work. The silhouette in the water is by Torkildsen, which was Toledo's idea. Another perfect selfie spot!
2020
Due to the Corona pandemic no street art was created in Flekkefjord in 2020.
