DANIEL YALEW STEINSET (2018)
Gives life to the surroundings - Daniel Yalew Steinset (b. 1989) was born and lives in Oslo. He has been involved in graffiti and street art since he was a teenager and has always loved drawing and painting. The interest led to education in form and color at Elvebakken high school. and on to a Bachelor's degree in textile art at the Statens kunsthøgskole in Oslo in 2015. The artist has made various wall decorations in Oslo and the surrounding area since 2009.
FJELLPARKEN
In 2018, he painted the decoration at Fjellparken in Flekkefjord in connection with the Fjellpark Festival. The idea behind the art was to paint a motif the locals could recognize themselves in, as well as to include some of the identity of Fjellparken as a place where you experience nature, culture and music both day and night. He wanted to create something big and small could appreciate, without having to interpret or decode the motif. Here, strong colors are used that break out of gray concrete. He also received help from a local kindergarten that sent him drawings of "rock trolls" that he could integrate into the motif. "What inspires me is when we humans encounter art where we travel in daily life, perhaps even where we do not expect it. Making a colorless wall lively with color and shape enriches the public space”, says the artist.
