RENATE HERMANSEN FISKÅ (2022)
Humour and history – Renate Hermansen Fiskå is a street artist based in Jørpeland and Stavanger. She works closely with businesses, as well as in private homes in Norway and abroad. Her motifs are created through conversations with her clients, where the artist’s illustrations merge with the ideas of her clients. Renate often uses humour as an element in her art and she also wants her art to tell a story.
- I often work alone, except for a couple of projects I have done together with Naeem Searle/ Nimi, says the artist.
Her greatest art piece as of 2022: The club premises of Ålgård Handball Club, where the artist covered 500 square metres for Nuart.
JENTA OG PCEN (A girl and her computer)
Street art made in 2022 at Sunde elementary school. The art was created after the artist had talked to the student council and received key words and drawings from the pupils. This is how the artist describes her art:
- I wanted to show a huge computer that had elements flying out of it. This image enabled me to use several of the ideas that came from the pupils. Thereby, giving them all a sense of ownership of the art. Leaves, natural elements, and a pupil wearing a paper crown trying to kiss a scared bird – they all support the main message of love and warmth in an increasingly digitalised world.
- The goldfish; it is a repetitive motif in my work. From tiny versions to huge. It is my weird kind of signature and gives me a feeling that my art has come to a safe home.
At Smaabyen Flekkefjord we consider this piece of art as a gift of joy to the pupils and employees at Sunde elementary school. We also consider it a huge “Welcome to Flekkefjord” greeting, as it is strategically placed to the left as you enter the city from the motorway.
