TERJE ANDERSEN (2015)

Child’s play and humour – Terje Andersen has a Master’s degree in practical theology. He is a street artist from Flekkefjord, living in Kristiansand. His career started early at selected walls in Flekkefjord. After struggling as an artist for some years, he continued his career in Kristiansand. Taking the step from being a part-time artist to working full time with art has taken a while. But in 2010/2011 Andersen became a full-time artist. His artistic focus has been creating pieces on large brick walls (murals). However, in recent years he has also created art on large jars. His artistic footprint has varied from a classic grafitti, based on letters to figurative and surreal motifs, that are presented with humour and transcendental hints with religious undertones. He also tends to poke fun at societal norms.

THE GIRL AND THE SQUIRREL (JENTA OG EKORNET)

Made in 2015 – «The Girl and the Squirrel» – A girl’s face incorporated in the art piece together with a squirrel collecting nuts. This piece was the first street art piece that was painted in Flekkefjord.  The main piece of street art in the Dutch Quater’s street art project in 2015 – a mural – is inspired by the Norwegian author Elsa Beskow’s fantasy world where small plants and animals grow big as we meet them in various stories. Beskow’s fairytales are written for children, but they have a much wider audience, including adults. This has inspired the artist in his choice of motif for the mural; he wants to bring joy to his audience, whether they are young or old. But his focus is on his youngest audience, the children.

«Great craftsmanship, style, composition and aesthetics is important when I choose my motifs and this wall is no exception. If the mural puts a smile on someone’s face, it would make me very happy», says the artist.
