RUBEN NORDÅS (2019)
Surrealistic colour explotions - Ruben Nordås comes from Kvinesdal, but lives in Flekkefjord and works as an arts and crafts teacher at Sunde primary school. His interest in art began early and developed until Ruben educated as a teacher of arts and crafts in Notodden and in Sweden, with specialization in drawing and image composition. The artist works with several forms of visual art, but is particularly interested in painting. He has illustrated logos and made drawings both privately and publicly alongside his job as a teacher. He also experiments with many different techniques. The street art project he did at Streetart2019 is the artist's first outdoor work.
The artist describes his experience of the project as follows: “I have known about the street art concept around the world for a long time, but it is only now that I can say that I know what it is about: During the project I have become part of the urban environment, the street and the people who live here. I have experienced the same people's smiles every day in the process and they have taken part in the development of the work; They appreciate that artists create something for those who live here or visit the area.”
DO ANIMALS HAVE AN IDENTITY?
Street art made in 2019 on the house wall of Centralbybryggeri (local brewery) in Kirkestredet. The theme during this year's street art week was identity and the artist has chosen to use animals as his main motif, where he asks the question whether animals should also have their own identity in a world where we humans dominate in so many ways. Ruben is inspired by surrealism and what stands out from the norm, and he hopes that the artwork can provide room for interpretation for people with different backgrounds.
